Hui Chang, who is pregnant, believes in Buddhism. She supports her family by folding and selling paper ingots. In a pregnancy check-up, she finds out that the fetus has a chromosome defect. In order to keep the baby, Hui Chang’s husband Guoliang Zhao takes her to a sorceress for a cure. In the process, Hui Chang’s faith is questioned and she suffers anxiety and pain.
