After the Torrey Canyon in 1967, the Olympic Bravery in 1976, the Böhlen in 1976, the Amoco Cadiz in 1978, the Gino in 1979, it was the Tanio which ran aground in 1980 off the coast of Brittany, eight dead and spilling 15,000 tonnes of oil. The director makes the sad observation of the impotence of the public authorities in the face of the situation and expresses his desolation and his anger.
