No new footage was taken, and everything was spliced together from previously shot 8mm film. When I've been shooting 8mm for this long, I often forget what kind of memories I've taken. When I took it out and looked at it in a viewer, I saw my friend, who had already died, smiling happily. My friend, who I don't know if he's still alive, is also smiling. Even though I was supposed to be surrounded by humiliation every day, I was able to look happy as I posed for the camera. That's right, I thought, this is a running light. A flip book about life that you read just before you die.
