Agustinho, a young rural worker, meets Jaciara, a beautiful 25-year-old woman, and immediately falls in love with her. Agustinho discovers that she has just suffered a great family loss, due to an attack by the popular figure Curacanga: a flying flaming head, which scares and kills people at night.
