The settlement called “Dirbesiyê”, at the border point of Mardin, had to change and transform under the influence of military-political developments. One of the most ironic examples of this is that in 1993, the star symbol on the railings of windows of the houses was deemed objectionable on the ground that it was a political symbol, and the village was raided by military forces to remove it from the windows.
