A young woman from the provinces arrives to disinfect an apartment and finds a man drinking alone. He confesses to having a terminal illness. Moved by pity, she spends time with him, shares a meal, and ends up in his bed. The man, an actor, soon leaves for his country house where his entire family, including a gravely ill brother, is waiting.
