Die Heimkinder - Geschlagen und vergessen?
They were beaten, humiliated, abused, and forced to work hard: children in care homes in the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1950s and 1960s. They were sent to care homes because they did not conform to their parents' ideas of order, morality, and conformity. Sometimes their hair was too long, sometimes it was smoking, sometimes they were considered sexually and morally at risk.
