Medical-technical assistant Marlen and her husband Henning are happily married, but are unable to have children. They decide to adopt a Chilean girl and hopefully set off for Puerto Montt, where the child lives in an orphanage. After some time, when the ice finally breaks between them, a dramatic incident shocks the parents.
