
"Ciao Bella Ciao" was produced in reaction to the score of the Front National in the first round of the French presidential elections in 2002. The montage is structured from shots of Marseille and its surroundings, where Laurence Rebouillon grew up. Ciao Bella Ciao was shot in Super 8 and kinescoped in 35mm, using tests of Super 8 negative film and rushes from her previous Super 8 films. This film evokes memories of a homosexual love breakup and draws up an observation of the recurring racism of the petty bourgeoisie of Marseille.
