The director's true story begins with a child in a situation she has no control over, realizing that this is what the rest of her life looks like. We’re brought in as she’s attending elementary school. One day, her teacher notices bruising on the arm of the child. The child lives in a world of fear and constant edge and someone is finally taking notice of it. This leads to the courageous act of the teacher reaching out to the child’s mother in a request to purchase a new pair of shoes for her student. In the end, through the teacher’s actions, the impact gives the child the inspiration to not give up on her future.
