In an era when access to safe, professional abortion services did exist in the Netherlands but had not yet been made legal, public opinion on this topic was intensively massaged by political parties. Hillie Molenaar shows what the discussion should be about: she reveals what abortion is, and what safe abortion services mean for the lives of women of varying ages and backgrounds.
