The story mainly tells the story of Zhang Mingliang and Bai Jing, a pair of ordinary people born in the 1970s . After they got married in 1998, some things happened in their families for more than ten years. Also interspersed in the middle are some stories about his good friend Director Wang and an old man renting a house.
